In 1943, the Nazis planned to round up every Jew in Denmark and ship them to the camps. But a German official quietly leaked the date. Word spread through churches, hospitals, and ordinary homes in a matter of days.

What happened next was not one hero. It was a whole country. Fishermen, doctors, cab drivers, and students hid Jewish families in cellars and clinics, then smuggled them to the coast under cover of darkness.

Then the boats came. In small fishing vessels, rowboats, even kayaks, Danes ferried roughly seven thousand people across the water to neutral Sweden. Around ninety-nine percent of Denmark's Jews survived the Holocaust.

The king in the yellow star is a myth. The truth needs no legend: an entire nation decided its neighbors were worth the risk, and almost all of them lived.
