Your toilet doesn't flush by pushing water down. It secretly sucks the bowl empty.

If the tank water just dumps into the bowl, how does everything vanish in one fast, powerful pull?

The trick hides in the curved pipe behind the bowl, shaped like an upside-down U. Normally the bowl sits half full, that water blocking the pipe. When you flush, the tank dumps water in faster than it can drain. The bowl level shoots up and over the top of the curve, filling that pipe completely. The instant it runs full, it becomes a siphon: gravity drags the whole bowl up and over with it. Everything is sucked out in a rush, until air breaks the siphon with that final gurgle.

So the tank isn't pushing anything. It just triggers the siphon. Pour a bucket of water in fast enough, and the toilet will flush with no tank at all.
