The Most Expensive Thing Ever Built Will Be DELIBERATELY Destroyed

Transcript

The single most expensive object humans have ever built is going to be deliberately crashed into the ocean.

The International Space Station cost around 150 billion dollars. That's more than the entire Apollo Moon program, adjusted for inflation.

No bridge, no skyscraper, no aircraft carrier comes close. Five space agencies and dozens of nations poured money, rockets, and decades of work into it, building it piece by piece in orbit. It is humanity's most expensive single creation, a 150 billion dollar laboratory flying 250 miles overhead. And yet, it cannot stay up there forever.

Around 2030, NASA plans to bring it down on purpose. A special vehicle will steer the entire station into a fiery reentry, scattering what's left into the most remote patch of ocean on Earth. The priciest thing we ever made, sent to the bottom of the sea.
